Hi {{contact.first_name}}, September on the Gulf Coast is the tail end of the wet season and the peak of hurricane season all at once. The heat is still here, the afternoon squalls still build fast over the water, and the summer crowds are finally thinning out. But the mornings are starting to hint at fall, the beach roads open back up, and if you get out early and keep an eye on the radar, September gives you some of the quietest, prettiest coastal miles of the year.
From Gulf Shores, turn west on AL-180, the Fort Morgan Road, and run the peninsula. For twenty-two miles the Gulf sits off your left shoulder and Mobile Bay off your right, with sea oats, dunes, and long open two-lane the whole way, until it dead ends at Historic Fort Morgan where the ferry crosses to Dauphin Island. It is flat, fast, and about as scenic as coastal riding gets in Alabama.
Walk the old fort, watch the ferry come and go, and take the same road back with the water on the other side now. Time it for a weekday morning before the beach traffic builds and you will have the peninsula nearly to yourself. Watch for blowing sand across the low spots after a windy night.
For a shorter loop, run the Bon Secour backroads and the county two-lanes through Magnolia Springs and Weeks Bay, some of the most shaded, live-oak-draped miles in Baldwin County. Beach crowd: take the Beach Express south and follow AL-182 along the coast from Gulf Shores through Orange Beach toward Perdido. Both stay quiet if you beat the heat and are off the road before the afternoon storms build.
September on the coast throws heat, storms, and wildlife at you at once. Ride smart and the season stays good.
The local chapter is where Gulf Coast riders post weekend miles, call out blowing sand and storm debris from Fort Morgan to Perdido, and share the shots worth putting your helmet on for. Post where you rode this month and tag us. It is your scene, run by riders who actually ride these roads.
You are on this list because you entered, which means you are already in the running for 20,000 dollars toward any motorcycle you want, drawn December 10. Got a buddy who would want a shot? The entry page is open and free.

A driver turning left across your lane on Highway 59. Blowing sand on the Fort Morgan road. A distracted tourist who never saw you on the Beach Express. If you ever go down in Alabama, one sliver of blame can end your claim, so you want a lawyer who rides these roads and fights the fault game hard.
