New England riding does not simply stop when the calendar turns. Plenty of Massachusetts riders keep going into the fall and the milder winter days, but the road changes character as the temperature drops.
Give yourself more following distance and brake earlier and smoother than you would in summer. Warm your tires with gentle inputs before pushing any corner. Dress for the wind chill so cold hands and stiff muscles do not slow your reactions. And treat every shaded patch and bridge deck as a potential ice trap.
Seasonal conditions do not excuse a driver who fails to yield, follows too closely, or is not watching for motorcycles. If another driver caused your fall-season crash in Massachusetts, the weather does not erase their responsibility. Document the road conditions and the other driver's actions, and get checked out even if you feel fine at first.
