Hi {{contact.first_name}}, September on the Gulf Coast is the tail end of summer and the heart of hurricane season all at once. The heat is still here, the afternoon storms still build fast over the water, but the summer beach crowds are finally thinning and the emerald water is at its warmest. Get out early, keep one eye on the radar, and September gives you some of the quietest, prettiest coastal miles of the year on the Panhandle.
Run west out of Pensacola on US-98 to Perdido Key, where the road threads the barrier island between the Gulf and the sound past the dunes and sea oats of the national seashore. Then point it back east over the bridges to Pensacola Beach and out Fort Pickens Road through Gulf Islands National Seashore, with sugar-white sand and emerald water on both sides all the way to the historic fort at the tip. It is flat, open, and about as scenic as coastal riding gets in Florida.
Ride it on a weekday morning before the beach traffic and the afternoon storms build, watch for blowing sand across the low spots, and stop at the fort or a beach pull-off to take it in. Take the same roads back with the water on the other side now.
For a shaded change of pace, head north into the Blackwater River State Forest around Munson and Krul Lake, some of the best canopy-covered two-lane in the Panhandle. Prefer the bluffs? Run the Scenic Highway, US-90, along the high ground over Escambia Bay. Both stay quieter than the coast and ride best before the afternoon heat and storms.
September on the coast throws heat, storms, and wildlife at you at once. Ride smart and the season stays good.
The local chapter is where Panhandle riders post weekend miles, call out blowing sand and storm debris from Perdido Key to Navarre, and share the shots worth putting your helmet on for. Post where you rode this month and tag us. It is your scene, run by riders who actually ride these roads.
You are on this list because you entered, which means you are already in the running for 20,000 dollars toward any motorcycle you want, drawn December 10. Got a buddy who would want a shot? The entry page is open and free.

A tourist turning left across your lane on US-98. Blowing sand on the Perdido Key road. A distracted driver who never saw you on the Bob Sikes Bridge. If you ever go down in Florida, remember PIP does not cover you on a bike, so you want a lawyer who rides these roads and knows how the fault rules get used against riders.
